Kelly Baker
Community Outreach
Kelly is a Colorado Native, born and raised in the Four Corners area. She moved to Parachute to teach 4th grade and later on special education. She earned her Bachelors and Master’s degree from Mesa State College in Grand Junction, her teachers license from Fort Lewis College in Durango, and her special education endorsement from Western State College in Gunnison. She has always had a love of reading and books, which is one reason why she went into education. Kelly’s kids were involved with Raising a Reader while in elementary school and saw what the program had to offer and what their goal was for bringing reading and books into the home. She has only been with the program a short time but has enjoyed holding weekly Little Red Book Bag groups. Reading aloud to kids is the greatest, she loves to bring the books that she is reading to life. She loves to spend time with her husband and two kiddos camping, fishing, and traveling to new places. She enjoys quilting and sewing when the cold weather sets in.
